Case Study: R&H Hall

Our client set out to construct a new Grainstore on their site in Ringaskiddy, Co. Cork, Ireland.  The new Grainstore was to have state of the art life safety systems for the product that is being stored, with an aim of completing construction within a one year timeframe.

Atex proudly provided McSherry Electrical, R&H Hall’s electrical contractor, with a range of solutions that optimised safety & value, integrating Central Battery Systems & Hazardous Area Products from multiple manufacturers.  Our solution gave our client Haz Area Certified General Lighting & Equipment Installation and a fully monitored Emergency Lighting Installation, all wired in Live, Neutral and Earth only (with no requirement for data cabling).

This large project involved the following parts & products provided by our team and our trusted suppliers to deliver Central Battery Emergency Lighting Systems,  General Lighting, and Hazardous Lighting/Equipment throughout the facility:

Central Battery Systems – 40A of Emergency Back-up Power, 1no. Main Charging System c/w Final Circuit Distribution

General Lighting – >200no. Luminaires

Emergency Lighting – >100no. Luminaires

Lighting Controls – > 300no.

Working alongside the design team MEP Engineering and Punch Consulting engineers on this specific project, our specialised team carried out Lighting and Emergency Lighting designs, and designed the Central Battery System inhouse. We are very proud to provide ongoing support to our clients and are always ready to answer any technical question or assist with designs for Dust Applications where required.

Prior to this project, Atex had provided Hazardous Area Lighting and Equipment to other R&H Hall sites.  However, this was the first largescale project we have worked with them on from start to finish.  So far, the feedback from our client and anyone who has had the privilege to visit the site , is that we far exceeded their expectations.  A comment has been made to us that “it is the most well-lit Grainstore in Ireland”, and we will take that as a complement!

Thank you as ever to our brilliant suppliers Eaton, CEAG, Concord Sylvania, Zalux & Hubbel.
